Meet Rebecca Stahl

Being shy is not going to stop Rebecca Stahl, 19, a sophomore English and communications major, from achieving her goals. Stahl is “looking towards more of the communications side of her major.” I’ve always been interested in recording people a lot and writing what they say,” Stahl said.

She has a very big interest in working in radio because “it is behind closed doors.” Stahl has a particular interest in pop culture radio. “People are very interested in pop culture. So keeping them up-to-date with pop culture is like helping them in a way.”

Despite having an interest in working in radio, Stahl does have many other interests. Stahl said that if she wasn’t looking for a job in this field or wasn’t able to find one that plan B would be becoming a third grade teacher. “My cousins are of that age,” Stahl said. “Children that age are just easy to talk to and they’re more motivated to get things done, and they’re more patient.”

Another field she would love to work in is animation, saying she would love work on scriptwriting, artwork, or computer design.

Stahl also has a very big passion for art. When she was younger she used to draw, paint, and make things with clay. The passion she had for art was also based on competition. “It was also a way for me to compete with my older brother in elementary school,” Stahl stated. “Then it just died down, until high school came around ad I picked it back up.” This passion was something that eventually died down when she graduated from high school.

She also has a special interest for music, calling it her “passion in life.” Despite her love and her passion for music Stahl confirmed that she has never pursued any type of musical activities. She said, “It is not the main thing I want to pursue in life.”

Stahl originates from New Holland, Penna. Her immediate family consists of her mom, her dad, and her 23-year-old brother who still lives at home with her and her parents. She attended Garden Spot High School in New Holland.

Her mother is a very spiritual Christian Filipino woman. Stahl said she had a very hard life growing up, but she is one of the nicest people you’ll ever meet.

Her father is a former Navy officer who served on a rescue team. He was discharged after being injured. According to Stahl, he is very stubborn, opinionated, and has no filter over what he says.

Before she came to Chestnut Hill College she attended Harrisburg Area Community College. After taking a tour of Chestnut Hill College, Stahl transferred to the school her sophomore year. “I fell in love with the campus because it seems like a very homey environment,” she said.

Stahl shows that she has many different interests in life and would like to pursue many different things in life.  She certainly is keeping herself open to many opportunities with these interests; with her current major she might not be able to be surrounded by all of her interests but it is very interesting to know that there are things outside of the field of work that she hopes to pursue that interest her. “I just like to keep myself open to different things.”

“I think she’s doing a very good job,” Stahl’s mother said. “As long she keeps herself open to new opportunities she should succeed. I’m very proud of her.”

I thought your description of me was good, but not all of the information was accurate. I thought that you did a very nice job of getting across the idea that I am an english and communications major, but I am leaning more towards the communications side.
